MQTT Cloud 2-Way Synchronizer
Connect Home Assistant to remote devices through a cloud MQTT broker, using TLS and two-way exchanges.
Published add-on · documentation and code available
A second home, an ESP32 on 4G, your data in Home Assistant.
A remote device publishes data to the cloud broker. The add-on brings it into Home Assistant; supported commands can travel in the other direction. This MQTT path requires no VPN, proxy or dynamic DNS. A cloud broker and suitable configuration are still required.
Documented functions
- Automatic entity creation from configuration topics matching the module’s expected format.
- Numeric or text sensors, binary sensors and switches with state and command topics.
- Base64-encoded JPEG/PNG snapshots; this mechanism is not a video stream.
- Configured Home Assistant entities are published to the cloud; version 1.0.5 sends state changes and resynchronises at startup.
From topic to entity
Use device/{device_id}/{entity}/config for the definition and /state for the value. Images use /snapshot. Publishing a value alone does not replace the configuration topic required to create an entity.
Prepare the connection
Prepare local and cloud MQTT access, the TLS broker address and the Home Assistant settings requested by the add-on. The README provides topic formats and examples.
