Your data.
Your applications.

All data exposed by SmartPhoton modules is accessible in other applications through MQTT. SmartPhoton dashboards are one way to read it; you can also build your own.

Openness is part of the project

Your data goes beyond
our dashboards.

All data exposed by SmartPhoton modules is accessible to other applications through MQTT. Use it in your own interfaces, histories or automations with a compatible application.

How it works

01 · The module publishes

The measurements and states exposed by the module are sent to the corresponding MQTT topics.

02 · The broker distributes

The MQTT broker relays these publications to subscribed, authorised applications.

03 · You use the data

Your applications can display values, store their history or use them in your own automations.

Home Assistant, and beyond

Home Assistant benefits from MQTT Discovery when the module provides it. Other applications can use the publications through their own MQTT subscriptions, without using SmartPhoton dashboards.

What “all exposed data” means

This means the data each module actually publishes. Available measurements depend on the equipment, protocol, configuration and version used. MQTT does not create a measurement the hardware does not provide.

Reading data and sending commands are separate capabilities. A command is only possible when the module and communication mode explicitly support it.

Choose your MQTT path

MQTT lets your applications use SmartPhoton data. The cloud synchroniser is a separate module linking Home Assistant to remote devices through a cloud broker.
