If you've never played before, the rules take about thirty seconds to learn.
You have six attempts to guess a hidden five-letter word. After each guess, the tiles change color to give you feedback:

A Few Tips That Actually Help
I'm not a competitive player, but a few habits have made the game more enjoyable (and less frustrating).
Start with a vowel-heavy word. Openers like AUDIO, ADIEU, or RAISE cover a lot of ground quickly. You're not trying to win on guess one — you're trying to eliminate possibilities.
Use your second guess to test new letters. It's tempting to lock in a green letter immediately, but if you still have four unknowns, spending a turn on fresh consonants (CLOUT, PLANK) usually pays off.
Watch for repeated letters. This one trips up almost everyone. Words like BERRY, HELLO, and SPEED are perfectly valid, and they hide well when you assume every letter is unique.
Don't ignore gray tiles. Eliminated letters are just as useful as confirmed ones. If you've ruled out S, T, and R, your remaining options shrink fast.
Say the letters out loud. Sounds silly, but hearing the combinations often surfaces a word your eyes skipped over.
Why It Sticks
What I like about Wordle-style games is how low-stakes they are. A round takes two or three minutes. You can play one puzzle while waiting for coffee or ten in a row on a slow afternoon. There's no account to create, no progress to lose, nothing nagging you to come back.
It also scratches a particular itch — the feeling of a problem being solvable. You always have enough information to make a reasonable next move, and when the final word clicks into place, it feels earned.
